Thetford Rovers FC


Thetford Rovers will be running its first annual youth 5 aside competition. 

The event will take place at Shadwell Park over the weekend of Saturday June 9th and Sunday June 10th 2012.

Age groups from under 7's through to under 16's.

Entrance fee is £25 per team this will include a ticket for a chance to win a brand new Torowear football kit for your team sponsored by R&S Sports.

This years competition is in association with the Papworth Mesothelioma Support Group.

Competition Rules

  • Each team must consist of no more than 7 players, 5 of which may play at any one time with the goalkeeper wearing distinguishing colours
  • Two substitutes may be used in any one game.
  • A Team list showing players names in full with their dates of birth must be handed in to the competitions judicator (based in the clubhouse) before any team plays. This must be done before you are able to take to the field failure to do so will result in disqualification.
  • Ages of players conform to the 11/12 season.
  • Under NO circumstances will any player be permitted to play for more than one team or age group throughout weekend of the competition.
  • Matches will consist of two equal periods of 7 minutes, with a minute break at half time, except in the semi-finals and the finals when 8 minutes each way will be played.
  • Points awarded this season are as follows: 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw 0 for defeat. Should teams finish their group stage with equal points, the team with the most goals scored will be decided the winner. Should both teams have scored the same amount, the team that has conceded the least amount of goals will be decided the winner. In the event of both teams conceding the same amount of goals, then a play off will take place of two equal periods of 5 minutes with the winner going through, if level after normal time a penalty shoot out will take place to decide the winner.
  • In the quarter, semi-final and finals if the scores are level after normal time then extra time of three minutes each way will be played. If scores are still level a penalty shoot out will take place to decide the winner
  • Astro turf trainers or molded football boots may be worn, however studded boots may be allowed dependant on playing conditions. Players should come equipped with all types of footwear. SHIN GUARDS MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES.

            Playing Rules

  •   The ball may be played above head height during open play. However any throw-ins either by the goalkeeper or outfield player must be underarm along the ground.
  • There will be NO offside.
  •          Each period of play shall commence with a kick-off at the centre mark. Play will re-start after scoring a goal in the same    manner.
  • All free kicks will be direct. Opposing players must retire a minimum of 2 yards from the ball at the taking of the free kick.
  • The goalkeeper cannot leave his goal area. Infringement will be penalised by the award of a penalty kick to their opponents.
  • The defending team cannot enter their own goal area. Infringement will be penalised by the award of a penalty kick to their opponents.9 Refs discretion)
  • The attacking team cannot enter their opponent’s goal area. Infringement will be penalised by the award of a free throw to the goalkeeper. ( Refs discretion)
  • The goalkeeper must return the ball into play with an under arm throw along the ground. Foul throws will be penalised by the award of a free kick to the opponents 2 yards from the point where the Ball left the goal area.
  • The goalkeeper must not kick the ball. Infringement will be penalised by the award of a penalty.
  • Ball out of play over the touchlines: To be returned into play with an underarm throw along the ground. Foul throws shall be penalised by a throw-in to the opposing team. Ball out off play over the goals lines: If last played by a defender a corner kick will be taken, if last played by an attacker then the goalkeeper will return the ball into play
  • When a penalty kick is taken the goalkeeper must have both feet touching the goal line between the goal posts and all other players must be outside the goal area on the field of play. The penalty taker is allowed two steps only.
  • The goalkeeper having rolled the ball into play may not receive the ball back until it has been played by at least two outfield players. Infringement will be penalised by the award of a free kick to the opponents, 2 yards from the point where the ball returned to the goal area
  • Any player receiving a caution will automatically miss the next game. If a player is sent off then the player will take no further part in the competition. The red card offence will be dealt with by the Norfolk County F.A and a ban will affect the player’s availability at the beginning of next season.
  • Apart from the above all other laws of the game apply.
